Cope Foundation, Teach Mór and Teach Beag in Glasheen, have been granted full HIQA Registration.

Teach Mór and Teach Beag are Residential Homes based in Glasheen in Cork City.
|
|
They are both home to adults with severe and profound intellectual disabilities and complex healthcare needs.
|
|
HIQA is the Health Information and Quality Authority.
|
|
It is the job of HIQA to make health and social care services in Ireland better.
|
|
HIQA has written National Standards for residential services for people with a disability.
|
|
HIQA staff visit Cope Foundation’s residential services to talk to staff, people living in the services and their families.
|
|
HIQA staff spend time in each centre inspecting them.
|
|
Inspections help to make sure Cope Foundation is reaching the National Standards.
|
|
Teach Mór and Teach Beag achieved full compliance on
17 out of 18 standards.
|
|
This is a very big achievement and so they were awarded a certificate of registration.
|
|
Nora Fitzgerald who is the person in charge, at Teach Mór and Teach Beag said “Our aim is, in partnership with the people we support, their families and staff, to provide a high level of support and promote comfort in a relaxed, homely environment. We respect and value the individuality of each person and strive to nurture their abilities and talents”.

Nora Fitzgerald also said "Achieving our HIQA registration is the result of hard work and cooperation of all of the team in both houses. We have met all of the HIQA standards and we are delighted to celebrate with the people we support, their family, friends and all of the staff and I would like to thank everyone involved.”

Cope Foundation Chief Executive, Colette Kelleher and Chairperson of Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children, Jerry Buttimer TD also attended.

Cope Foundation has had 20 HIQA inspections up to now.
|
|
So far 7 of our centres have achieved full registration.
